For licensed premises, owners and managers the implications are that a greater onus of responsibility regarding private security is placed on them. They have to ensure that every door supervisor carrying out their duties on the premises holds a valid licence or risk a six month prison sentence and a £5,000 fine.
The private security industry has come a long way since the stereotypical ‘thug in a monkey suit’.
